Bunting originated from the Navy back in the 17th century. This is because the person's job to put the flags up on the ship was called a 'bunt'. The word bunting also derived from France, there the term means lightweight wool fabric which would be used to make the bunting.
As a home maker, I absolutely love bunting, it looks so pretty hanging from shelves in my kitchen and gives a really cosy, country feel to any home. It also looks wonderful in children's bedrooms, in the garden in summer and many other places in any home.
Bunting can also be used for special occasions and just some ideas include:
- Valentines day
- Easter
- Summer garden parties
- Weddings
- Engagements
- Birthdays
- Halloween
- Bonfire night
- Christmas
- Fairy gardens
- Cake decoration
- Children's bedroom
