Tweed Gifts - Shop
livepages::jquery();?>I love working with Tweed, there is someting comforting about working with it, I like to have a lot of tweed around my own home as soon as the cooler weather sets in. I have even made my very own tweed table runner which I adore.
I wanted to create bookmarks not just for ladies and so I made a stylish tweed one for my son in law, and he loves it.
I've also made dog harnesses from tweed, tissue holders and walking bags (they'll be listed here soon).
The hanging hearts look wonderful hanging from shelves, cupboard doors, or I like to use them with a little scented oil to make my wardrobe and drawers smell divine.
History of Tweed
The fabric was first used as a practical peasant fabric but then tweed was adopted as a symbol of wealth by landowners and royalty.
Tweed arose from the land, most likely originating in Scotland and Ireland as a practical peasant fabric for outdoor work like farming. For centuries its robustness, insulation and wind-resistance protected working men and women against the cold and wet of Britain's rural climate. Only later was it appropriated by the landed gentry.
